The dumpee

Because she is the dumpee, you are guilty for shattering all her dreams of riding off into the sunset with her man and her plans for the future. She thinks that her entire life is over and that there is no other break-up in the entire history as traumatic and painful as this one.

What the dumpee should keep in mind is that all break-ups are the same and life does go on. You will meet new people, have new experiences and the break-up will seem distant.

When you are going through a break-up and you survive it, you will be looking at life with a cynical, jaded outlook, even if you are the dumpee or the dumper. Right after the break-up you might both feel that the sky is no longer as blue and that the grass will never be as green. Sometimes things do not turn out as you expect them to and the break-up is no different.

What is hard, is to deal with the person who has been dumped. Should you call them and ask them if everything is ok? Should you stay friends or talk to them on the phone?

What you must do after a break-up is actually nothing. You mustn’t call back the dumpee because you will be giving her mixed messages and you want to give her time to recover from the break-up (somewhere between 3-12 months). If she calls you back, you must talk to her nicely but do not show her that you are still interested in her.

After the break-up the worst thing you can do is to pretend that you still want to get cozy with the dumpee. If you ended it, leave it like that and avoid any misinterpretations.
