Do you think it is appropriate for a man to give a woman his business card when he asks her out on a date? I want to show her I am interested and I also want her to contact me whenever she wants.

You should never hurry things up, but let them flow naturally. By the time you ask her on a date you should already have her contact info, so I guess you barely met and you want to already have her phone number and take her on a real date.
First of all, you should initially ask for her e-mail because she will feel less pressure than giving you her phone number and the chances of her calling you are rather slim. After you have her e-mail address you should write her and invite her for a cup of coffee or tea, nothing special or out of the ordinary. If things go well then you can ask her on a date and ask her for her phone number.
Always remember, you should not insist too much or look too desperate when you want to pick up a woman. They can feel your weakness and will try to avoid you, so take things slow and everything will come naturally.
