How is this getting her phone number supposed to work since I am a total stranger to her? Do not get me wrong, I am not afraid of approaching a woman, but I have doubts about them giving me their number since they do not know me.

You are right, you are a stranger to them, but if you know how to approach her and she is also excited about meeting an interesting guy, there is no way she would not give you her phone number. After all, she can easily not answer the phone if she changes her mind about you.
